Torres Gemelas ardiendo
Amor entre escritores (11 de Septiembre) H.Urruspuru

“… Sé cebra hoy. Desnuda.

Love among writers (September 11th) - H.Urruspuru
(Translation: Clara & Carmen Vasco)
"... Be a zebra today. Naked. Endless white stripes. And wander freely in black stripes
in the red valley of the bed"
- it reads it's this way this poem is starting -

And "I half close my eyes"
As it says that says, further on, chapter “two”… in your novel.

That one where god with his enormous erected member
from a Benedictine picture - blessed - inaugurates the “Big Bang”
with two unerring blows.

Who? Which bomber in “The Twins”
Will gather our bones / hairs / entrails...
after so, so much love?

Now, - in the “after” of the editor - in the main square of your citadel
a whole people starving
have come in to show their banners of revenge
and when they go, as the humblest low tide
- the whitest -
have left a monument of salt

ground zero
ground zero
- it’s me -

a sole eye staring at the front page,
where Tusquets chose your brown eyes to be
the whole of your latin eyes…

Do you think it was a linx? The one that crossed before our dreams…?

I bleed…
You bleed…

Manhattan bleeds,
Beautifully

“… in your voice the entire nature purrs
and your black hairs rest on my brest”

… it says - as far as I am concerned - that it ends this way this wounded poem

P.S. It’s September 11th. my love, and nothing is better than loving you, true…

No.

A algunos boca arriba. Otros dados vuelta.
Déjalos así sin brazos
déjalos sin piernas
como gusanos arrancados de la tierra
reptando
llorando

No.
Horizonte curvado y fosa común.
En el acero afilado del machete
cantan los demonios del África.

Quítales los brazos flacos.
Sácales las piernas de aire.
... y que no mueran

... aunque el barro esté morado.

II

llegan los barbijos blancos
tribu extranjera de la cruz escarlata
miran enmudecen

Algunos sanan.

Los cubren para que duerman
y no sueñen que despiertan
y no corren y no danzan.

The mask of evil

On my wall hangs a Japanese carving,
The mask of an evil demon, decorated with gold lacquer.
Sympathetically I observe
The swollen veins of the forehead, indicating
What a strain it is to be evil. - Bertolt Brecht

No.
Don´t you kill them, leave them alive
but remove their thin arms
but take their liquid legs out
which barely scream... you see? some of them don´t even have strength.

It´s hardest to take care of invalids.
These children that will have a foggy look.
A heart of wet gravel.

Leave them just the way they are.
Some of them laying faced up. Others turned around.
Leave them like that without arms
leave them without legs
like worms that are pulled up of the land
crawling
crying
on the purple clay
a life cut is less laborious
the bulldozer makes it simpler.

The bulldozer pushes masks of amber wood
that no longer laugh at simple things
they do not talk about the crops the feasts the dances.
No.
Curved horizon and common grave.
On the sharped steel of the machete
the devils of Africa sing.

Do remove their thin arms.
Take their legs of air out.
... and don´t let them die

... although the clay be purple.

II

they arrive with surgical masks
a foreign tribe of the red cross
they look
they fall silent
they cross themselves
in the shape of a ripped moon
and carry them in small stretchers
to the tents of health

All in silence, it seems like if Africa was finished.
They clean them.
They operate them.
Some of them recover.

They tuck them so they can sleep
and don´t dream that they are awake
and can´t run and can´t dance.

The people with the surgical masks
people of the red cross
see how these children´s smile memory
goes up to the sky the next dawn.

And the hours
like nowhere in the world
become forever too long...
